Hey, everyone! I’m THEFEMPOET. My name is Alicia and I’m in love with traveling and ampersands. I grew up in the suburbs of Boston and studied English Lit., Spanish, Creative Writing, and Education at SUNY Geneseo and the University of Rochester. Since then I have taught ESL, Spanish, English, Earth Science, and Social Studies in several schools around the globe. I have been to France, Italy, Spain, Peru, Ecuador, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the Czech Republic, and Canada and keep a compendium of other wish-list destinations at the ready.
My blog is a tribute to the growing need for feminism in a patriarchal world and a lens into the mind's eye of a modern woman. With this public forum, I aim to highlight some of the reasons we as people (men included) need feminism and what that word really means.
New followers should know I enjoy critiquing society, traditions, and social norms and pondering the spectrum of the human experience. I share my most intimate thoughts and experiences to foster a dialogue among those on similar deconstruction journeys.
